The MADDS Edit

A Google post is a sign in the window.

A sign in the window. Not happy Monday.

A Google Business Profile post is not a blog, and it is not a social feed you have to feed every day. It is the note on the listing: what’s new, an offer with an end date, or an event with a time.

PostUse it when
What’s newA real photo of finished work, not a quote on a square.
OfferOne deal, with an end date, in words a stranger understands.
EventA time and a place. Holiday hours count. “Happy Monday” does not.

A what’s-new post does not stay in the front of the profile for long. Offers and events can stay up until the date you set. If you post once in March and never again, the window goes blank. Weekly is enough. Monthly is the point where it starts to look closed.

One post, written like a sign

You don’t need a content calendar to put a note in the window. You need one true thing and a photo that proves it. If you can write this once a week, the listing looks open. If the last post is from March, it looks closed, even when the hours say otherwise.

LineWrite
The factWhat changed, what’s offered, or when it happens.
The proofA photo of the work. Not a quote on a beige square.
The next stepUse the button on the listing. Don’t stuff a second phone number into the caption.

“Happy Monday” fails the first line. A holiday-hours change passes it. An offer without an end date is a slogan. An offer with a date is a sign. I don’t live inside the Google account every Tuesday unless that was the job. If you can post the sign yourself, do it.

Skip the phone number typed into the post if the button already calls you. Google rejects a lot of posts for looking like an ad stuffed into a caption. Say the thing. Use the button.

Posting on the listing is not included in Google Setup. That job is the profile itself. Growth Management is the monthly engine for the rest of the marketing, starting at $1,500, and it is twelve posts you approve, not a promise that I will live inside your Google account every Tuesday.

If you can write one useful post a week yourself, do that. The listing will look alive, which is most of the point.

If this is the job, say so.

Tell me what’s missing. I’ll tell you which door it is before anyone starts.
